Accelerated Reader Awards

Accelerated Reader is a computer-based program utilized by Alva Schools beginning in 1st Grade and continuing until students complete 8th Grade. This program is use to monitor reading practice and progress.  It helps teachers guide children to books that are on student’s individual reading levels.  Students take a short quiz after reading a book to check for reading comprehension. Students are awarded points for each book they read and successfully comprehend.  Each student in 1st Grade is encouraged to reach 8 Accelerated Reader points per nine weeks. The following students met their goal during the 2nd nine weeks of this school year!
